Fine Motor skills in IB

In February IB began rotations after lunch on a Friday afternoon.  I see this not as a time of 'busy work' but time to develop and refine fine motor skills.  Each activity required the students to use their pincer grips and hand-eye coordination.  These skills are essential for the development of writing.

Screwing and unscrewing nuts and bolts of various sizes.  Using tongs to pick up small objects one at a time and placing them in a container.

Placing tooth picks into an icing sugar container one at a time. Using the thumb and pointer finger for pegging onto colours and boards.
